When a licensed broker tells us a status makes no sense, it changes. When an entry writer tells us a step is a step too many, it goes.

Never a raw code where a word will do.
A status reads "held by CBP", not a two-letter code. A role reads "licensed broker", not a number. The desk should not have to translate its own software.
Every number true and sourced.
Every figure on every dashboard carries a ⓘ that says where it came from. Nothing is estimated where it can be counted, and nothing is shown that cannot be traced.
The record cannot be edited.
The audit trail is append-only and the database enforces it. What happened is what the record says happened, including anything we did in a support session.
Your clients see only their own.
An importer sees their shipments, their files, their invoices. The boundary is proved by an automated test that diffs every importer-reachable endpoint against a written list.
A licensed broker's decision is a licensed broker's.
Writers prepare. The licensed broker approves and releases. A reclassification is recorded as the licensed decision it is, with the name attached.
